Berrie Foundation Pays Tribute To Edith Coogan
Unsung heroes from throughout New Jersey earned recognition for their compassion and concern for others as part of the 18th Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference ceremony at Ramapo College on April 30. “The award recognizes the power of making a difference,” said Angelica Berrie, president of the Russell Berrie Foundation. “Every nominee embodies a sense of purpose that spurs them to activism.”

Edith Coogan, Co-Founder of Raphael's Life House, was honored this year with the Russ Berrie Award for establishing Raphael’s Life House 21 years ago. She was frustrated by the lack of services available for young mothers and took matters into her own hands. Through her efforts, hundreds of women and their children receive safe shelter and a new start in life at Raphael’s Life House in Elizabeth.

Baby Bottle Boomerang
Will You Help?
It's really simple...it's called Baby Bottle Boomerang because you distribute empty baby bottles to church congregations, and just like a well-tossed boomerang, they come back to you full of coins, currency and checks. And, the bottles can be used over and over again.

The Baby Bottle Boomerang is simple to conduct and very productive in raising much-needed funds for our programs at Raphael’s Life House. We have set a goal to raise $10,000 this year with this project. If you think your church would be interested in sponsoring a Baby Bottle Boomerang campaign this year, please let Lori Ruzich know and she will be happy to get you started. lruzich@covenanthouse.org.  You can start by downloading our Baby Bottle Boomerang flyer now.
